THULCANDRA announces its return to European stages for the IN THE LIGHT OF DARKNESS TOUR 2027. For the occasion, they will be joined by the Greek band YOTH IRIA and their German compatriots VORGA, and will make a single stop in France, in Paris, at Backstage BTM.
THULCANDRA’s rise to prominence took off when the band released its debut album, “Fallen Angel’s Dominion,” in 2010. The band, still led by its founding member and visionary Steffen Kummerer (also known for his work with OBSCURA), has continued to strengthen its icy grip on blackened death metal ever since. The desolate melodies of their subsequent albums, “Under a Frozen Sun” (2011), “Ascension Lost” (2015), and “A Dying Wish” (2021), have cemented THULCANDRA’s status as a leading force, brilliantly translating the magic and mystery of mid-’90s Nordic black-death metal into the modern era.
“Hail the Abyss,” the band’s latest studio album to date, will be released in the spring of 2023 via Napalm Records. It will be followed in September 2026 by a two-track EP, “Black Sun Aeon,” featuring two previously unreleased tracks recorded during the “Under A Frozen Sun” sessions in 2010 and originally released in 2023 as a limited-edition 45 rpm single, available exclusively in the deluxe box set of “Hail The Abyss.”
