SHINING
PROGRESSIVE METAL
06/11/2026
O’Sullivans By The Mill, 92 bis bd de Clichy - Paris
A cult band on the Norwegian experimental scene, SHINING has been led since 1999 by saxophonist, guitarist, and singer Jørgen Munkeby. Originally formed as an acoustic jazz quartet, the band has continually reinvented itself, moving from free jazz to progressive rock before giving birth to its own sonic monster: Blackjazz.
With their 2010 album *Blackjazz*, SHINING fused extreme jazz, industrial metal, progressive riffs, abrasive saxophone, and chaotic energy into a sound that became instantly recognizable. The album established the band as one of the most daring acts of its generation, straddling the boundaries between Nine Inch Nails, King Crimson, Meshuggah, and avant-garde jazz.
Across the albums *One One One*, *International Blackjazz Society*, and *Animal*, SHINING has continued to push its own boundaries, alternating between industrial violence, massive rock choruses, and unpredictable experimentation. Their track “Animal” has now surpassed 12 million streams on Spotify, while their live performances remain renowned for their physical power and sheer intensity.
After several anniversary concerts dedicated to *Blackjazz*, including a performance in front of 15,000 people at Hellfest 2024, SHINING is preparing a new album slated for release in 2026. The saxophone, distorted vocals, and industrial ferocity emblematic of their darkest period will once again be at the heart of this new incarnation.

A highly anticipated return to Paris for one of the most unique and unpredictable bands in contemporary metal.

+ guests: CKRAFT
Led by Charles Kieny and his accordion enhanced with electronic sensors, CKRAFT fuses math-metal, death/prog, jazz, and melodies rooted in the Middle Ages. The quintet draws inspiration from Meshuggah and Gojira as much as from John Coltrane, with a highly personal instrumental approach that deliberately blurs the boundaries between the metal and jazz scenes. Following *Epic Discordant Vision* in 2022, the band released *Uncommon Grounds* in 2025 and has played numerous shows in France and abroad, notably alongside Animals As Leaders, Hypno5e, Tambours du Bronx, and, previously, SHINING.
